UCLA Fund Seeks a “Gift of Any Amount” for annual fund
In search of an annual fund page as Link of the Week I visited about 25 sites identified by a Google search for “Alumni annual fund websites.” Most were, to be polite, boring. The worst one started the page by reporting results from the 2011-2012 effort. Is anybody paying attention at that university?
UCLA takes a different approach that seeks to engage people at every giving range right from the start as the page opens: “A gift of any amount will amount to something remarkable.” For those who came to the page ready to give there is an immediate “Give Now” link.
For the many who might not be quite ready to give scrolling down the page will show 3 key numbers:
- 52,034 gifts were received (I’ll presume in last year’s campaign).
- $8,580,360 was from gifts of less than $1,000.
- $26,569,490 was the total amount raised.
Scroll down a bit further to see what 5 small gift amounts can do for UCLA, including:
- 56 gifts of $25
- 30 gifts of $50
- 15 gifts of $100
- 28 gifts of $500
- 3 gifts of $1,000
Just below that are links for gifts of each of the 5 amounts listed.
On Mobile
For smartphone viewing Google rates the page 100/100 for overall “Mobile Friendliness” after the page opens but only a weak 52/100 for “Mobile Speed.” The desktop version also receives a low speed score of 60/100.
