Professional School Programs: Easy-to-Scan 9 Options Available
People interested in a professional school’s areas of study have the same top tasks as any potential student: Find the programs available and get more information about the program(s) of interest.
The University of Rochester School of Nursing makes that easy to do by using 9 large content blocks just below the picture of 6 smiling people that opens the page. You can scan the options easily on desktop or laptop… or scroll through them on your smartphone.
The invitation is to “Explore Our Programs.” Clicking a link below each program title opens the door to a clean content page that present facts without photos.
Aspirational marketing vs. Reality marketing
The opening photo of 3 men and 3 women did make me wonder if this nursing school had achieved what so many others have not: a relatively even balance of men and women in the program. Perhaps even 50 percent?
Alas, the photo is an example of aspirational marketing rather than reality marketing. A check with U.S. News & World Report shows that 94.4 percent of the full-time U of R nursing students (in the graduate programs) are women. Only 5.6 percent are men. The National League for Nursing reported that 2014 male enrollment in any type of nursing program was less than 20 percent of the total.
Given that today’s world is full of marketing skeptics, reality is the better path.
