Your Higher Education Marketing Link of the Week… University of Maryland: Graduate Program Explorer… 25 November 2022

Easy-to-Use Graduate Program Explorer at University of Maryland Wins for Fast Mobile Speed & Clean Environmental Impact

University of MarylandUniversity of Maryland Graduate SchoolPotential graduate students are like all other potential students in at least one important aspect: learning what graduate programs are offered in a top task.

No schools makes that easier to do than the Graduate School at the University of Maryland.

You can’t miss the purpose of the past as it opens: “Program Explorer.” You’ll quickly see your two choices for how to begin:

  • “Explore by Professional or Academic Interest” takes you to 12 easy-to-scan choices.
  • “Show All” degree programs brings up 44 possibilities. Before you scan everything, you can sort by Master’s, Doctoral/PhD, or Certificate programs. And you can also sort by Full Time or Part Time interest.

You’ll likely find out if Maryland has the program that interests you faster than it take you to read this.

Mobile speed & environmental impact are tops…

And two other elements about this page stand out:

  • It is the fastest mobile site to full interactivity that we have yet tested… 2.9 seconds. A mobile speed that beats Google’s recommended 5 seconds or less is possible if the site creators know that fast speed is a marketing strength.
  • It has less of a negative environmental impact than 96% of the sites tested on Website Carbon Calculator. That’s by far the best higher education site we’ve yet tested.

Speed on mobile… 2.6 seconds to first view,  great (and rare!) 2.9 seconds to full interactivity

Google PageSpeed Insights measures the time to first view on a mobile phone at 2.6 seconds… quite good. Time to full interactivity is even better at a marvelous 2.9 seconds, easily beating the Google-recommended 5 seconds or less. First time a Link of the Week site has been that mobile fast.

The major step to improve mobile speed: “Eliminate render-blocking resources.”

Website Carbon Calculator… “Hurrah!” for the cleanest site yet tested
