A Brief History
Since starting as an independent consulting in 2006, I’ve worked with 86 colleges, universities, and professional associations to develop strong marketing communication strategies.
As a speaker at professional meetings and online conferences, my topics include digital marketing, mobile marketing, best practices for online communications, web writing, and building websites for brand engagement. I’ve delivered conference workshops not only in the United States, but also in Australia, Canada, Denmark, and Germany. You’ll find 79 presentations online at Slideshare, where you can review them and download copies of those that interest you most.
Since 1995 I’ve been writing “Your Higher Education Marketing Newsletter,” sent monthly to 3,600 subscribers. More than 7,300 people around the world follow my “@HighEdMarketing” news on Twitter. More than 2,100 people connect with me on LinkedIn, where I moderate a “Top Tasks: Higher Education Website Content” group.
From 1994 until 2003 I chaired the AMA’s annual Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education. From 2000 to 2005 I was Senior Vice President and Director of Strategy at Creative Communication Associates. Before that, I held college and university leadership positions in marketing and enrollment for more than 25 years.
My bachelor’s degree is from Alfred University and my Ph.D. in political science is from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
